Jesus had thousands of people following Him everywhere He went as He was out on His mission to save the world. Some knew what they wanted and asked for healing or food, but what people who followed Him got, they could never have asked for before He came.

good morning good morning recovered on purpose family thank you so much for being here for this week’s episode of bringing the word Wednesday right here on the recovered on purpose show today we’re going to be reading The Sermon on the Mount and seeing how it applies to our life in recovery I love you guys so much keep living recovered on purpose the black represents the darkness from which we came
the white represents the light in which we now live and the red represents the passion it takes to live recovered on purpose
good morning everybody I love you so much thanks for being here I’ve got my Bible I’ve got my coffee and I am ready to go we’re going to read from The Sermon on the Mount which is Matthew 5 and part of six also and let’s get right into it and today we’re gonna be we’re gonna be seeing how this applies to our life with God and spirituality in our addiction recovery so one day Jesus saw a vast crowd of people Gathering to him to hear him so he went up the slope of a hill and sat down with his followers and disciples spread over the hillside Jesus began to teach them I want you to imagine there’s like thousands of people following Jesus thousands of people and they’re just like eager to hear him they’re eager to hear what he has to say because everything that he’s saying they’ve never heard before they haven’t heard this type of teaching they haven’t heard this type of unconditional love for them from God What happiness comes to you what happiness comes to you when you feel your spiritual poverty for theirs is the realm of Heaven’s Kingdom and I was reading this a little earlier and I was I was remembering back when you know when we were in our addiction when we’re at our lowest lowest lowest point we’re just suffering right when we finally got that that inch of recovery that that spiritual Freedom that that time that we felt like we were actually going to get clean this time that that we actually felt we were going to get recovery what kind of Freedom what kind of real like weight was lifted off of us theirs is the realm of kingdom what the light comes to you when you wait upon the Lord for you will find what you’re looking for what blessing comes to you when gentleness lives in you for you will inherit the earth how enriched you are when you crave righteousness for you will be surrounded with fruitfulness how satisfied you are when you demonstrate tender Mercy for tender Mercy will be demonstrated to you and so it’s basically saying like what we’re putting out we’re going to be getting back if we’re demonstrating mercy and we’re demonstrating love and forgiveness to the people around us then we’re going to be receiving that back from God and it’s you know it’s a weird Paradox in the spiritual realm a lot of us have talked about this and fellowships or in recovery but we can’t keep what we don’t give away right and good morning Carrie it’s great to see you great to see you Aaron coming in from Australia fantastic day men Jackie good morning good morning good to see you what Bliss you experience when your heart is pure for then your eyes will open to see more and more of God that’s a good one right there when your heart is pure when you’re when your motives are pure when you’re when you’re not doing a bunch of things in your life that you know you shouldn’t be doing when you are acting correctly you’re able to see God more you’re able to see him show up more and more and more the more we’re living in his will and when we like when we line up our will with God’s will that is like the most content feeling that we can possibly have a peace a Serenity that is unmatched by anything else we can’t gain it through through work or money or or relationships with people it’s it’s gained through knowing that we are living exactly how we’re supposed to be living in the will of God and it becomes our will how joyful you are when you make peace for then you will be recognized as a true child of God how enriched you are when you bear the wounds of being persecuted for doing what is right for that is when you experience the realm of Heaven’s Kingdom and guys this can this speaks to us right here how enriched you are when you bear the wounds of being persecuted for doing what is right in our recovery if there is something going on and we’re the person that stands up and says something about it if there’s people that are talking bad about mat or someone that is talking badly to someone that’s on mat saying that you know you’re not you’re not actually sober or something like that if we’re the one that stands up even if we’re not on mat if we stand up for that person and we say what’s right you say hey man that’s none of your first off it’s none of your business and second off if this person is doing this instead of dying on the streets of heroin and Fentanyl isn’t that better you know and we’re gonna feel we’re gonna have the the enriched feeling of the heart we’re going to know that we’re doing what’s right how ecstatic you can be when people insult and persecute you and speak all kinds of cruel lies about you because of your love for me so leap for joy since your heavenly reward is great for you are being rejected the same way the prophets were before you your lives are like salt among the people but if you like salt became Bland how can your saltiness be restored flavorless salt is good for nothing and will be thrown out and trampled by others so this is like being on fire being on fire for Recovery being on fire for God and just going out and doing the things that we need to do continuing to progress continuing to live our life in recovery as if we’ve been given this new this new lease like I’m living on borrowed time I should be dead I was found dead by the police and I know a lot of you out there have have struggled with this in your addiction you you know that you shouldn’t be here so if we’re if we’re in our recovery we’ve been blessed with this new life how much better it is to live on fire to live as as salt to be so so flavorful for everyone around us just to be continually working on it continually helping as many people as possible your lives light up the world let others see your light from a distance for how can you hide a city that stands on a Hilltop and who would light a lamp and then hide it in an obscure place instead it’s placed where everyone in the house can benefit from its light so don’t hide your light let it shine brightly before others so that the commendable things you do will shine as light upon them and then they will give their praise to your father in Heaven so why would we hold back why if we’ve been given this life in recovery if we were you know if we were so far gone that nobody believed in us right nobody believed we were going to get clean we didn’t even believe we were gonna get clean and sober when we actually find this Freedom we have to stand up and be loud about it we have to be loud about it because this is what’s not only going to give hope to others right but if we say how we got clean and sober all of us you know there’s very few people in recovery whether you’re whether you’re a follower of Jesus or not but there’s very few people in recovery that I’ve met that don’t attribute it to spiritual higher power God getting them clean and sober and if we continue to talk about this and we don’t hide the hide the fact about God and our fellowships and in our talks and everything like a lot of people try to do and a lot of people say we should do because we don’t want to scare the newcomer out like no guys that says right here that if we are if we are loud about it if we’re loud about God and about what he did people are going to praise him for it if we do it with like the conviction knowing that it was him and we talk about it often the people out there suffering are going to know the real solution because we found the real solution so we got to be talking about it if you think I’ve come to set aside the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets you’re mistaken I have come to fulfill and bring to Perfection all that has been written indeed I assure you as long as Heaven and Earth endure not even the smallest detail of the law will be done away with until its purpose is complete so whoever violates even the least important of The Commandments and teaches others to do so will be the least esteemed in the realm of Heaven’s Kingdom but whoever obeys them and teaches their truth to others will be greatly esteemed in the realm of Kingdom’s heaven for I tell you unless your lives are more pure and full of Integrity than the religious Scholars and the Pharisees you will never experience the realm of Heaven’s Kingdom so as we’re doing this right as we’re doing this sin is missing the mark sin is knowing we should do something and not doing it or doing something that we know we shouldn’t do that’s really that’s really the the full law that we’ve been given now because we have the spirit in us because we have that Holy Spirit that dwells within us we are we are an embodiment of the Holy Spirit it actually convicts us to know when we are supposed to do something or not supposed to do something and as long as we as we do it as much as possible we continue to do to live righteously to live in our recovery as if as if God is inside of us and inside of everybody else we’re going to continually get blessed and we’re going to experience Heaven’s Kingdom and I believe when when Jesus talks about heaven because of what he teaches about it so much he says it’s near it’s here Heaven’s kingdom is here the kingdom has come and what that means is we’re not we’re not just waiting on the afterlife we have the opportunity right now in our lives to live a spiritual walk that sees miracles in front of us one of the greatest Miracles that we have experienced now and I I still I’ve experienced a whole lot of different miracles in my life the the biggest one that I can point to is that someone like me was able to actually find recovery someone who could not stop jamming a needle in his arm was going to his probation officer asking him to put him and put me in prison because I couldn’t stop using and I was saved from that addiction that is a miracle each one of you is a miracle so keep living it keep speaking about it keep talking about it because you’re not only going to enrich Yourself by by purifying and by by really getting it out there and by and strengthening Yourself by telling your story and remembering it and embodying it but the people out there suffering are going to hear it and they’re going to find the way to find it themselves good praising God keep loving God and he’s going to continue to bring blessings into your life I love it I love it good morning Michelle from Ohio great to see you great to see you right anger you’re familiar with the Commandment that the older generation was taught do not murder or you will be judged but I’m telling you if you hold anger in your heart toward a fellow believer you are subject to judgment and whoever demeans and insults a fellow believer is answerable to the congregation and whoever calls down curses upon a fellow believer is in danger of being sent to a fiery hell so when we are when we are because this is this is exactly what we talked about with resentment is number one killer If We Hold anger in our heart If We Hold contempt in our heart for another person it’s actually going to it poisons us it straight up poisons us and if we are if we’re hating on someone we’re talking about them if they’re in our fellowship we’re talking about them behind their back to other people and stuff it’s actually going to harm us just as much or more than that person that is being talked about so if you have anyone right now right now in your life that you are resenting that you’re angry at that you’re thinking about and their name is popping up to you right now I want you to say a prayer for them I want you to really get down on your knees and say a prayer for that person right now right now in this moment and God I do I just I just say in Jesus name God we just thank you so much for the the opportunity to come together and gather in your name you say that wherever two or more are gathered you are in their mid Scott so thank you for being here right now and God anyone out there that has a has that anger or resentment in their heart Jesus I just asked God that you would remove that from their heart forgive them and forgive the person that they are holding that contempt against God and we ask that with this you would just bless both of them in an incredible way God you would show the freedom that comes from forgiveness mercy and releasing resentment God we just ask that God you would make it clear make resentments clear so that we are able to release them by loving others God and we thank you that that we’re able to do this God we thank you for the relationship with you God I just I just pray blessing on everybody that watches this everybody that’s watching it live right now God I just ask that you show up in a new way again because we know that you are you are great Gods you are so good and we know that you just want to get deeper with us so God I just pray that on to everybody right now that you will get deeper with each and every one of us in a new way in Jesus name amen amen
all right so then if you are presenting a gift before the altar in the temple and suddenly remember a quarrel you have with a fellow believer leave your gift there in front of the altar and go at once to apologize to the one who is offended then after you have a have reconciled come to the Altar and present your gift it is always better to come to terms with the one who wants to sue you before you go to trial or you may be found guilty by the judge and he will hand you over to the officers who will throw you into prison believe me you won’t get out of prison until you have paid the full amount so guys that’s all about I mean we just got a lot The Sermon on the Mount is incredibly incredibly deep we’re actually gonna we’re actually going to finish this uh or continue this next week and guys enjoy the rest of your day go out love people spread Mercy spread love spread forgiveness spread kindness and anything that’s in your heart right now just give it up to God give it up to God anything that’s that’s tying up your heart with a resentment towards someone else a resentment towards yourself forgive yourself ask for forgiveness and just live that incredible incredible blessed life I love you guys so much keep living recovered on purpose
