what’s up recovered on purpose family good morning and welcome to the recovered on purpose show bring in the word Wednesday today we’re going to be talking about when we’re in the den of lions surrounded by all of our troubles I love you guys keep living recovered on purpose the black represents the darkness from which we came
the white represents the light in which we now live and the red represents the passion it takes to live recovered on purpose
good morning good morning everybody Welcome to the recovered on purpose show bringing the word Wednesday so excited that you’re here I’ve got my Bible I’ve got my coffee and I’m ready to get into it so nobody ever said that addiction recovery and life was going to be easy we’re always constantly surrounded by troubles surrounded by you know people talking about us or whatever it is that we’re dealing with but just how do we get through this and today we’re going to be reading in Daniel chapter 6 about Daniel’s experience in the Lion’s Den we’re going to see how this applies to us today and while we’re reading this make sure that you’re internalizing how it is that his faith got him out of this situation as well as what his faith actually did for the people around him and his relationship with the people around him good morning Jessica good to see you good to see everybody let me know where you’re coming in from let me know you’re cleaning sober date we always love to celebrate the clean time and recovery time here so let’s get right into it so and again this is going to be on Mondays and Wednesdays we’re going to do a little bit of a shorter uh version of the recovered on purpose show Friday Saturdays and Sundays will continue being an hour long these are going to be about 15 minutes just so we can give you a word give you some motivation and we can get going into our days so Darius the me decided to divide the kingdom into 120 provinces and just to give context uh the Persians had completely conquered Judah the the land of the Jews basically and while they’re overseeing it the king is is just doing horrible things to people he’s completely powerful over everybody making them do different decrees and different things so that’s where we’re sitting right now and Daniel and two of his best friends are like the the spiritual leaders okay they’re they’re interpreting dreams for the king they’re they’re able to read the future and different stuff that God’s giving them in order to save them basically and save their save their people morning Natasha from Ridgeway PA March 13 2018 amen let’s go hello from Michigan 1000th day today let’s go amen we’re gonna celebrate that we don’t always do the celebration lights on Wednesdays but you get them today a thousand days that’s amazing congratulations congratulations
good morning from Washington State good to see you Pam Jessica coming in May 25th 2019. awesome amen so Darius and me decided to divide the kingdom into 120 provinces and he appointed a high officer to rule over each province the king also chose Daniel and two others as administrators to supervise the high officers and protect the king’s interests Daniel soon proved himself more capable than all the other administrators and high officers because of Daniel’s great ability the king made plans to place him over the entire Empire so now this is saying in our in our recovery we got to be doing our best because whether we’re in a job or whether we’re you know creating a business or we’re in a community we have to do our best there’s nothing wrong with being your best and doing your absolute best to to rise up to be the best you to serve the most people some people though as you’ll see don’t like that then the other administrators and high officers began searching for some fault in the way Daniel was handling government Affairs but they couldn’t find anything to criticize or condemn he was faithful always responsible and completely trustworthy so those are three things that we want to be we want to be faithful responsible and trustworthy so they concluded our only chance of finding grounds for accusing Daniel will be in connection with the rules of his religion so the administrators and high officers went to the king and said Long Live King Darius we are all in agreement we administrators officials High officers advisors and governors that the king should make a law that will be strictly enforced give orders that for the next 30 days any person who prays to anyone Divine or human except to you your majesty will be thrown into the Den of Lions so these guys are just trying to tear Daniel down they don’t like the way that he is you know rising up that the king is choosing him over everybody else because he’s doing such a great job and I’m sure a lot lot of you have experienced this in your life in recovery or whatever it is that basically when you start to rise when you start to become a better you there’s people around that whether subconsciously or even consciously will try to tear you down from that position we’ll try to bring you back down to their level but here’s how you continue going and you just you just be you you do you and you have faith in God no matter what you stay faithful
so King Darius signed the law but when Daniel learned that the law had been signed he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room with its windows open toward Jerusalem he prayed three times a day just as he had always done giving thanks to his God so no matter who says that we can’t believe in God no matter who makes fun of our faith no matter who is is condemning us for being these people that believe in God that call us weak for having this spiritual life we keep doing it because it’s not about them it’s not even about us it’s about God and being able to serve other people then the officials went together to Daniel’s house and found him praying and asking for God’s help so they went straight to the king and reminded him about his law did you not sign a law that for the next 30 days any person who prays to anyone Divine or human except to you your majesty will be thrown into the Den of Lions yes the king replied that decision stands it is an official law of the medes and Persians that cannot be revoked so these guys literally just made a law got the king to do a lot in order just to set up Daniel in order to set him up and make it so that he would get torn down they knew that he wouldn’t uh stop praying to his God and that was that’s a huge thing no matter what we’re going through we have to keep our connection with God keep praying to God no matter no matter what’s going on out here we keep our connection with him because we have faith that he’s going to bring us through all these trials yes the king replied that decision stands it is an official law of the means and Persians and cannot be revoked then they told the king that man Daniel one of the captives from Judah is ignoring you and your law he still prays to his God three times a day hearing this the King was deeply troubled and he tried to think of a way to save Daniel he spent the rest of the day looking for a way to get Daniel out of this predicament in the evening the men went together to the king and said your majesty you know that according to the law of the medes and the Persians no law that the king signs can be changed so in this time not only did they try to set him up right they literally did everything they could just to tear this guy down Daniel down from his high place from Ollie and all Daniel’s doing is just doing what he’s called to do he’s just doing his his prayer life he’s being the best he can he’s being trustworthy faithful and uh what was the third one and responsible so when we’re being responsible trustworthy faithful and we’re walking the way that we’re supposed to walk some people are turned off by that because they can’t do that themselves that’s all it is people aren’t hating on you and judging you and condemning you because they actually think those things about you it’s all internal for them they’re having problems within themselves and you just got to keep moving and keep being you because the right people are going to see the right people are going to connect with you and you’re going to attract the right things into your life so at last the king gave orders for Daniel to be arrested and thrown into the Den of Lions the king said to him may your God whom you serve so Faithfully rescue you a stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den the king sealed the stone with his own Royal seal and the seats of his in the seals of his Nobles so that no one could rescue Daniel so have you ever been in a place in your recovery where where you just felt like no one was coming to help like like I’ve been I’ve been in a situation where I was just struggling really really bad and I called like seven different people back to back to back to back to back and no one answered so what do I do what do I do in a time when I’m struggling I don’t know what to do my emotions are going crazy my thoughts are going crazy and no one’s answering so in that time what I decided to do leave my phone at my place and go on a long walk and just talk to God and in that time talking to God Not only was I building that back up my faith my emotional Fitness my spiritual Fitness my my whole internal being was being replenished it was being fed and I stopped worrying about all these other things because I was reminded about who my God is the same God that you serve the same God that loves you that brought you out of addiction into recovery is the same God you have right now in this moment and if a God is powerful enough to bring us out of addiction what on this planet could possibly be too much for him then the king returned to his Palace and spent the night fasting he refused his usual entertainment and couldn’t sleep at all that night very early the next morning the king got up and hurried out to the Lion’s Den when he got there he called out in anguished Daniel servant of the Living God was your God whom you served so Faithfully able to rescue you from the Lions and Daniel answered long live the king my God sent his Angel to shut the Lion’s mouths so that they would not hurt me for I have been found innocent in his sight and I have not wronged you your majesty the King was overjoyed and ordered the that Daniel be lifted from the den not a scratch was found on him free had trusted in his God not a scratch was found on him for he had trusted in his God and that’s what we have to be faithful for we have to be hopeful for our future and if we are living responsibly trustworthy and Faithfully nothing can touch us when we’re making the right decisions day by day by day we’re making the right decisions as they come towards us in life we are protected we have a hedge of protection a guardian angel that’s constantly circling and watching us because we’re doing the right thing we’re not letting the the evil desires we’re not living the letting the evil thoughts come into us because we’re constantly faithful we’re constantly staying connected with God and we’re moving through our recovery with a purpose the King was uh then the king gave orders to arrest The Men Who had maliciously accused Daniel he had them thrown into the lion’s den along with their wives and children this is a different time this is a different time they included wives and children to get rid of the whole the whole bloodline the Lions leaped on them and tore them apart before they even hit the floor of the den so imagine this these Lions these things that these troubles these these things that people are trying to throw us into these you know these accusations calling us a name or saying talking dirty about us over here gossiping about us over here they’re trying to make it so that when we hear that when we hear those accusations when we hear that gossip that bad talk about us they want us to internalize that but with our faith those Lions can’t bite us they can’t bite us if we know who we are in God it reminds me of a of a a speaker I once heard and he’s walking around and he’s talking he’s talking about what other people are saying about you and he looks at this person he’s like I hate your blue hair it looks disgusting on you and then he looks at this other person and he says your blue hair looks absolutely horrible on you I can’t even believe you would choose to make that blue hair and you look to this other person your blue hair is absolutely ridiculous you look awful no one would ever give you a job and then he looks up and the whole crowd is like looking at each other like what the hell back and he said none of you have blue hair right and they’re like yeah and he’s like that’s exactly the same as if someone is accusing you or saying dirty things about you if you know who you are if you know your identity in Christ if you know your identity and what your purpose is what your hope is nothing can touch you you know you’re doing the right thing you know you’re walking on the right path and you know that you are headed towards what you’re supposed to be doing there’s nothing that someone can say that will take away that identity if you’re struggling with your identity if you’re having troubles with with the thoughts of who you are or the thoughts of others that people are gossiping about you and it’s actually touching you dive back into your identity in Christ by reading the Bible read the Bible get into prayer get into meditation start start remembering and reminding yourself exactly what your purpose is and your call is to help people the purpose is how you’re going to do that and how we’re going to do that is different for each and every one of us for me it’s sharing my story it’s helping others share their stories and it’s speaking I love to talk to people I love to help people and watch people’s eyes light up and watch people find recovery find God through you know words that I’m speaking that’s what I that’s what I feel my call is and anybody that came at me and said anything about the way that I’m doing it they can’t touch me I am I’m so internally faithful about what I’m doing and that I’m supposed to be doing this that nothing out here can touch me and that’s where you need to get to if you’re struggling with your identity find that call find that purpose so he so he just threw those families into the lion’s den then King Darius sent this message to the people of every race and nation and language throughout the world and this is a king that is not a believer in God he literally is forcing people to worship him in his land they are not allowed to pray to other gods they’re not allowed to pray to other people they have to bow down to him and pray to him and this is what he says peace and prosperity to you I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble with fear before the god of Daniel for he is the Living God and he will endure forever his kingdom will never be destroyed and his rule will never end he rescues and saves his people he performs miraculous signs and wonders in the heavens and on Earth he has rescued Daniel from the power of the Lions So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian so guys if you are out there and you’re struggling with anything right now if you’re internalizing anything with identity God says that you are loved you are perfect exactly how you are and that he has a destined plan for you he has a Destiny for you that was pre-written before the foundation of the earth so seeking seek in his word seek in prayer seeking meditation what exactly he’s called you to do and go do that I love you guys
