good morning good morning good morning everybody i love you so much thank you for being here for bringing the word wednesday what a what’s better than getting over this hump day with the word i love bringing it in i love talking about you know what the bible says and how we can apply it to our lives in recovery and this topic today is something that you know we can all use for the rest of our lives it’s something that you know we’re never at a place where we’ve stopped growing right in every recovery program we’re talking about a program of progress not of perfection and one of the best places that we can continue to progress is our thoughts in our mind and today we’re going to be talking about we’re going to be reading from the bible about different places where it talks about renewing the mind and in different ways that we’re able to do that go ahead and let me know where you’re coming in from let me know clean and sober dates how your day is going how your week is going and i’d love to know where you guys are coming in from because usually on these lives we have multiple different countries a lot of different states coming in so let me know where you’re coming in from love you guys so much happy wednesday so we’re going to start in the most uh most common place where people talk about the renewed mind from the bible what’s up aaron good to see you brother good we’re gonna be going from the passion translation of the bible so some of this stuff you know it’s a little bit different than what we’re used to hearing but it’s very poetic and i really like i really like the way that this is translated and you know it’s just a fun way to do it so trisha great to see you february 5th 1997 coming in from new jersey in 1997 that means what 25 years 25 years and coming in and supporting our community and continuing to be part of the community and showing us this is possible i love it trisha thank you so much for being here thanks so much for being here so this is romans 12 starting at 1. the transforming power of the gospel beloved friends what should be our proper response to god’s marvelous mercies i encourage you to surrender yourselves to god to be his sacred living sacrifices and live in holiness experiencing all that delights his heart for this becomes your genuine expression of worship stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you but be inwardly transformed by the holy spirit through a total reformation of how you think this will empower you to discern god’s will as you live a beautiful life satisfying and perfect in his eyes and good morning carrie good morning good morning good morning pam good to see you always coming in with nine years let’s go let’s go and what this is saying is as we are living a different life as we’re living this life in recovery and we’re continuing to show progress this life and recovery we’re able to you know live as examples of what it was possible in recovery we continue to renew how we think the thoughts that we have during the day and a lot of this is going to be centered in faith we’re going to be going into a lot of different verses a lot of different chapters in the bible today about how we think and how we’re able to bring that into the way that we act in the world based on our faith knowing that god is with us your proper role in the body of christ god has given me grace to speak a warning about pride i would ask each of you to be emptied of self-promotion and not create a false image of your importance instead honestly assess your worth by using your god-given faith as the standard of measurement and then you will see your true value with an appropriate self-esteem in the human body there are many parts and organs each with unique function and so it is in the body of christ for though we are many we’ve all been mingled into one body in christ this means that we are all vitally joined to one another with each other contributing to the others god’s marvelous grace imparts to one of us ver god’s marvelous grace imparts to each one of us varying gifts and ministries that are uniquely ours so if god has given you the grace gift of prophecy you must activate your gift by using the proportion of faith you have to prophesy if your grace gift is serving then thrive in serving others well if you have the grace gift of teaching then be actively teaching and training others if you have the grace gift of encouragement then use it often to encourage others if you have the grace gift of giving to meet the needs of others then may you prosper in your generosity without any fanfare if you have the gift of leadership be passionate about your leadership and if you have the gift of showing compassion then flourish in your cheerful display of compassion now what this is saying and we can we can perfectly put this into recovery right so what this is saying is that each one of us has a part each one of us has a gift if we’re all a body an ear can’t hear or an eye can’t hear so it needs an ear an ear can’t see so it needs an eye and us in recovery we’re one body with one common mission one common goal of helping the addict that’s suffering and guys we we can’t be inwardly fighting we can’t be saying that doesn’t work or that’s not right we can’t think that our path is the only path because the more that each one of us is sharing the more that each one of us is sharing our journey to recovery the more addicts that are going to be able to be saved they’re going to be able to be helped so each one of us has a gift each one of us has a gift of you know maybe we’re the one that is at the front door greeting people making them feel welcome at a meeting right when they walk in maybe we have the gift of going out onto the streets and literally evangelizing recovery and there’s there’s nothing wrong with doing these things that we feel passionate about that we feel are our call because each one of us has a different call in recovery we’re all unique we’re all special and we have something different about us that we can bring to the world to help and we all need each other also we all need each other beloved friends what should be our proper response of god’s marvelous mercies i encourage you to surrender yourselves to god to be his sacred living sacrifices and live in holiness experiencing all that delights his heart for this becomes your genuine expression of worship stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you but be inwardly transformed by the holy spirit through a total reformation of how you think this will empower you to discern god’s will as you live a beautiful life satisfying and perfect in his eyes so as we as we are you know continuing to bring our faith life into our recovery to bring to bring our relationship with god into our recovery we are we’re called here we’re called here to have have our actions be our expression of worship the way that we live the way that we act the way that we go out and help people that’s literally us worshiping god a lot of people think that you know worshiping god is listening to worshipping music and and putting your hands up and doing this which is it is a form of worship but one of the best forms of worship is how we live our life living our life like like god is always with us like god is always watching like like we actually have been saved from something that we want to go out and help other people with that’s the number one way that we can express our faith in the number one way that we are able to express worship right ohio coming in july 2020 let’s go amen amen quentin from india what’s up india coming in from india we got like five different countries in here right now jess help me help you amen amen amen amen melissa coming in from georgia good to see you melissa good to see you thank you i needed to hear this again i’m working on retrain my brain in some areas to remember what god has brought me through in having patience with those i want to just help but aren’t ready man every single person in this live that’s in recovery has experienced this right here every single one of us when we find recovery we want to help the person out there struggling so bad so bad and sometimes there’s we have to realize that we’re powerless over someone else there’s things that we can do there’s things that we can set up spaces that we can hold wisdom that we can share steps that we can share to find recovery but it’s always going to be on that person and it’s a really it’s a powerful place to come from and it’s even more powerful when we don’t expect something of somebody else in order to receive the help that we’re giving them if we give them the help no matter what they’re actually much more able to receive it than if we are conditional about the way that we think about them the way that we feel about them and helping them if our mindset is continually on doing what god would have us do in this moment for this person then we’re going to be constantly in a place where we’re helping people and we won’t be emotionally invested in a way where we’re going to be damaged by people not being ready to find recovery so i love it good work sir lynn jewell from virginia let’s go god makes no junk bless you in your calling to spread the word and in helping others find their way you are fearfully wonderfully made dear adam thank you thank you thank you love you so much transforming the mind being not double minded yes amen that is from that’s from james we’re actually going to hop there just because i know know that verse and what she’s talking about is

and if anyone longs to be wise ask god for wisdom and he will give it he won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace just make sure you ask empowered by confident faith without doubting that you will receive for the ambivalent person believes one minute and doubts the next being undecided makes you become like the rough seas driven and tossed by the wind you’re up one minute and toss down the next when you are half-hearted and wavering it leaves you unstable can you really expect to receive anything from the lord when you’re in that condition the believer who is poor still has reasons to boast for he has been placed on high but those who are rich should boast in how god has brought them low and humbled them for all their earthly glory will one day fade away like a wildflower in the meadow so transforming the mind being not double-minded what that means is having the faith having the faith constantly knowing that we don’t believe one day and not believe the next we don’t you know we’re not going to be walking this way believing this is right believing this is good and then all of a sudden yeah i don’t really believe that or someone that’s double minded you know if you found a foundation of recovery and we’re going to go this way if you found a foundation of recovery whether it’s the 12 steps or you know whether it’s a treatment center or whatever it is we’re not going to find a place in our recovery where you know the thing that saved us is no longer the thing that saved us we shouldn’t be going from okay we were a hard course 12 strep a 12 stepper that got through to early recovery and into long-term recovery through doing the steps and then at some point the steps aren’t aren’t the thing because we found this other thing in our recovery being double-minded and not having a clear focus of faith of what actually works is not going to empower the addict that’s suffering to actually find it and if we’re creating all of our own ideas that we actually didn’t practice at the beginning to find recovery then it’s not going to be something that works for the people looking for recovery so and when we’re double-minded we’re losing our faith we’re lacking the faith that everything is going to be good everything’s going to work out and it’s really important to be walking into our lives with the faith that everything is going to be okay everything is going to work out and according to god’s will and a good plan for our life as long as we continue to to work in his will to work with him to be his employee he’s the new employer he’s the principal we’re the we’re the uh agents as we continue to do this we’re going to be continually blessed and we’re going to continue to build this faith within us amen amen yes i gave my friend a ride to her eye doctor appointment yesterday and if she didn’t drink last night she is blessed with five days alcohol free amen amen but i just am stepping back and praying for her amen pam amen no half measures half measures availed us what nothing what i what i love about that quote is it doesn’t say half measures availed us a relationship back half measures availed me my job back no it says half measures availed us nothing nothing when we’re double-minded when we’re when we’re doing half measures we’re not going all in on the thing that we’re supposed to be going all in on we’re not going to get anything out of it it doesn’t say we’re going to get a little bit out of it it says we’re going to get nothing out of it yes we do nothing gives me greater joy than seeing someone that i was out there with and not see them in a while getting to see them and their joy and their smile and their happiness has come back nothing makes me happier to see life come back in them amen amen it’s such a beautiful thing to watch a watch an addict recover i love it amen amen nine months today let’s go crystal let’s go crystal we got all the lights we got all the lights let’s go nine months today congratulations crystal we’re super proud of you thank you for sticking around and uh keep moving whatever you’re doing right now that’s working continue doing it and uh continue building on it and start sharing that message keep sharing that message crystal we’re super proud of you super proud of you all right so we’re going to go over to let’s go to

so this is this is how we’re called to act this is how we’re called to act on our day-to-day with our faith right be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life let joy overflow for you are united with the anointed one let gentleness be seen in every relationship for our lord is ever near don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing be saturated in prayer throughout each day offering your faith-filled requests before god with overflowing gratitude tell him every detail of your life then god’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding will make the answers known to you through jesus christ so keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real honorable and admirable beautiful and respectful pure and holy merciful and kind and fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of god praising him always follow the example of all that we have imparted to you and the god of peace will be with you in all things i get an amen on that amen this is literally saying it’s what we were just talking about that’s what’s beautiful about about reading the bible is it’s a living word she hopped in here who was it
uh double minded
not being double-minded right and when we’re not being double-minded we are not being pulled in different directions or worried about a thing that’s what it’s talking about if we’re if we’re worried one minute and then we’re faithful the next minute we’re like that that person that’s being bounced around by the waves we don’t know what’s going to be happening we we’re not going to be able to be focused on our on our journey we’re not going to be able to focus on where on where we’re supposed to be going because we’re worried about this thing over here when in reality we have all the faith we need to be going in this direction right here there’s no reason for us to be worried about a thing when we’re walking with god knowing that we’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing period there’s no there’s no working for a for the grace that god’s given us there’s no working for his love there’s no earning his love there’s no you know earning the gift that he gave us but there is a way there are things and there are ways that we have to live in order to be continually faithful without worry and anxiety when we have a faith when we have a relationship with god and we’re taking the steps towards our call and we’re doing the next right thing over and over and over and over that makes it so that we’re not going to be worried over here or worried over here but we’re going to have that faith that we’re going in that right direction we’re doing what we what we’re called to do we’re making the right decisions we don’t have to worry about about being pulled down or about something horrible happening because we’re going in the right direction everything works according to his good for our lives and it’s a beautiful place to be from we don’t have to we don’t have to be worried we don’t have to be anxious but we can be saturated in prayer throughout each day offering your faith-filled requests before god with overflowing gratitude now there’s other translations that talk about you know through prayer and thanksgiving so first prayer and thanksgiving we we enter into his realm with with worship with reverence so we’re like god uh jesus you are you’re the anointed one you’re the son of god you are you’re the miracle worker you know when we start talking to him about about who he is to us what he’s done for us and be thankful be you know in gratitude and then we’re able to present our request to him and we don’t have to be anxious or worrisome about actually receiving these things because we know when we’re in relationship with him we’re connected in the will with him our will is the same as his will for our lives when we ask for things we know that they’re coming because we know that that’s his will for our life we just have to be in constant connection with him constant prayer life with him what’s up what’s up uh congratulations crystal yes amen amen we do recover amen hey iris good to see you good to see you amen amen what’s up clara sierra what’s up sierra
i had 15 years clean husband had an affair my wife went straight to hell all over night i started using meth again i used every day for eight months straight i got clean for three months and relapsed used again for a few weeks i’m back in sobriety and i’ve been clean three months now i can do this i have done this i started joining facebook clean and sober groups i want this and i want to keep this dealing with my hurt and anger clean and sober is so hard melissa i’m super proud of you for being back you are you are always welcome back right we something i think is beautiful about this recovery community is you will never find a recovery community that says oh you relapsed can’t come back you’re not welcome here that will never happen and we’re all here to support you on this journey of staying here stay here you can you know there’s a lot of meetings that you can go to in person there’s different communities you can get involved with in person and if you’re liking on wednesdays if you like and bring in the word wednesdays make sure that you are joined with a fellowship community a a you know a church a women’s bible study something like that where you can strengthen your faith with other women with other people in your community that you can be connected to and talking about your faith for me that was the number one thing that you know really helped me after i did the 12 steps after i got that relationship with god i did the 12 steps what really helped me to get over that hump and continue to move forward was the people that i started surrounding myself with the people that were constantly talking about god constantly talking about recovery or talking about business these were the three things i was looking for were people that were going to take me to the places that i wanted to go and if you want to stay clean if you want to stay sober you want to connect yourself with people that are doing those kinds of things that are doing those good things in a really good community is the christian community in the right place it’s a good community all right we’re going to hop over to second corinthians

so we’ve got india colombia australia and the united states if that’s not beautiful how we’re how we as a recovery community are able to come together from multiple different countries and talk about the word right we’re no longer we’re no longer beaten down about god being in recovery because we’ve all experienced the hell of addiction so we’re able to at least have an open mind and open heart about god right we can actually be talking about god now yes i have found a celebrate recovery group and a church and also an a group in my hometown amen melissa that’s perfect morning adam and recovered on purpose family good morning wendy good to see you girl always good to see you happy wednesday happy wednesday treasure this is called treasure in clay jars we are like common clay jars that carry this glorious treasure within
that first line that first line is beautiful we are like common clay jars that carry this glorious treasure within so we are we are all human we’re all we’re all you know very similar we’re all the same value to god we’re all you know very similar we’re walking on the streets we see someone else we’re all very very common right but what makes us uncommon what makes us so beautiful and makes us so powerful is god that’s living within us this this glorious treasure within us and for a lot of us that glorious treasure within is god and our recovery story because a lot of people aren’t making it out of addiction and when we do we have this glorious treasure within that we’re able to share with people out there suffering that only we can do to help them there’s no there’s nobody that hasn’t been through addiction and found recovery like if you haven’t been through addiction and found recovery you can’t touch the attic that’s suffering the way that we can period we have that glorious treasure within that we are able to help attic suffering with we are like common clay jars that carry this glorious treasure within so that the extraordinary overflow of power will be seen as gods not ours
whoa that’s so fire though we experience every kind of pressure we’re not crushed at times we don’t know what to do but quitting is not an option boom if that’s not a line if that’s not a verse for addicts in recovery i don’t know what is i’m gonna read it again we are like common clay jars that carry this glorious treasure within so that the extraordinary overflow of power will be seen as gods not ours though we experience every kind of pressure we’re not crushed at times we don’t know what to do but quitting is not an option we are persecuted by others but god has not forsaken us we may be knocked down but not out
we continually share in the death of jesus in our own bodies so that the resurrection life of jesus will be revealed through our humanity we consider living to mean that we are constantly being handed over
to death for jesus jesus’s sake so that the life of jesus will be revealed through our humanity so then death is at work in us but it releases life in you we have the same spirit of faith that is described in the scriptures when it says first i believed then i spoke in faith man that is like that is some fire right there that is some fire right there i’m gonna i’m just gonna read it again because that whole thing is like is perfect this whole verse this whole segment is perfect for people in recovery we are like common clay jars that carry this glorious treasure within so that the extraordinary overflow of power will be seen as gods not ours though we experience every kind of pressure we’re not crushed at times we don’t know what to do but quitting is not an option we are persecuted by others but god has not forsaken us we may be knocked down but not out we continually share in the death of jesus in our own bodies so that the resurrection life of jesus will be revealed through our humanity so man that is just there’s so much to unpack there we have been knocked down so much in our life from our addiction even a lot of us in our recovery we’ve had things that have happened but quitting is not an option it is not an option to go back to drugs right now if you’re sitting on melissa sitting on three months we have to cut out the option of going back we have to cut it out it’s a decision we’re not going to go back to drugs we’re not going to go back to alcohol and when we’ve cut that out it’s not an option we are living in a totally different space and we’re able to show god’s power through the way that we act in humanity through the way that we live in humanity we bring his spirit everywhere with us that we go we walk in a room right we’re not we’re not consumed by the thoughts of of of using or or possibly going back or overwhelmed with the thoughts of drinking or anything like that we’re walking around with the spirit within us that’s contagious when we walk in a room the atmosphere changes because we are so faithful in our recovery we’re so faithful in our relationship with god that it changes the world around us and that’s the power that we have and even though we are like common clay jars we carry this glorious treasure within yes we’re we are all human we are all human but we carry something within us when we have a faith in god and when when we’ve recovered from addiction we’ve recovered from alcoholism this dark hell place we have a connection with god and a reliance on god that most people on this planet will never understand they never get the opportunity to really know that feeling of of relying on god of knowing that he is our salvation knowing that he is the one that saved us and the extraordinary overflow of power will be seen as god’s not ours and a lot of times when i’m talking about recovery and i’m i’m i’m talking about how god did this for me in my testimony video or or different places that i share about how you know i was really saved by god i’ve had people you know say you know this it was you take god out of it like give yourself the power and this and that and i’m like yeah you know and i’ve thought about it there’s there’s definitely things i did but there is i couldn’t have done it without him i never had the power to do these things to find recovery until i found him period and it’s impossible to watch me live without knowing that that god is doing this it’s impossible to to be close with me it’s impossible to be walking with me on a regular basis without knowing that god has been the one that did this me on my own me i’m not i’m not healthy i’m not healthy without god i’m not healthy when i’m not connected with him i’m not healthy when i’m not walking with him and for a long time in my life i was i was jamming a needle in my arm i was drinking continuously i was snorting lines i was smoking meth i was doing everything everything and that was almost like an escape to get away from god right because with him none of that is how do i say that because he was always with me but when i’m with him and i’m making these choices with him and i’m walking in faith with him i don’t even think about those things i don’t even want those things i don’t need those things because i’m so devoted and so passionate about what he has for my life each and every one of you out there that’s watching this right now god has a purpose for you that is bigger and better than you can possibly imagine and as we continually try to imagine we continually try to see what his will is for our life walk into his will do the right thing this day do the right thing this day do the right thing this moment and we continue to see how he blesses our path we continue to see more and more of his vision revealed in our life we get so it’s like a high it’s like a high being connected with god and walking with him it’s it’s amazing it’s amazing good to see you brother always good to see you hey man amen i’ve been knocked down many times 28 surgeries cancer twice child abuse dv crohn’s disease abusive relationships etc but i’m still here shining brighter than ever and still helping others amen carrie love you so much always good to see you carrie’s an og an r-o-p-o-g my hardest obstacle has been my baby sister’s murder back in may oh my gosh her death was centered around addiction
sometimes i feel it would be easier to cover the pain i know that that isn’t true i also think that because i couldn’t save her i will not fall in the way she did i want to be able to see that she gets justice if anything good comes from her tragic death it was that it’s brought me much closer to god amen crystal and that’s
it happened around six months then you had about six months clean and sober when that happened and you’ve and you’ve made it through and you are honoring her you are honoring her memory you are honoring your love for her by staying clean and sober through that because when somebody passes away my best friend my best friend died when i was right about six months it wasn’t from addiction it was it was from a complication from something that uh he had when when we were like 18 19 years old and at 28 years old he had a complication to that when he went to bed he went to take a nap and he didn’t wake up i just got the call the next day that they found him in bed and he had passed away and i was right at six months clean and sober and through that i was able to be there i was able to be there at the funeral and speak i was able to be there to call the friends that i needed to call because i was one of the first ones notified and i had to call people that we had grown up with right and let them know and i was able to be there for that and i would have regretted so much if his memory and and his the legacy that i said that he had in my life was that i had to use because he passed i’m really really proud of you crystal uh i’m really sorry that happened i can’t i can only imagine and um we love you we’re here for you keep going amen i’ve learned that i am not god but he indefinitely he is definitely with me and guides me daily amen i thought i could do this with what you would call a dry recovery no meanings no god no anything just my free will god was so god i was so wrong i could not do this without him i tried so hard to try to do this on my own and i was miserable i cannot do this without the lord i am nothing without god all i am without him is a hopeless drug addict amen amen amen amen my ex died last month from addiction man there is i said this in the last live on monday and i hate saying this like at this time you know but in recovery we need to have two suits or two dresses one one for funerals and one for recovery celebrations because as we’re moving through life in recovery we’re going to lose people we’re going to lose people it’s uh it’s horrible i hate this disease i hate it and i’m also grateful that i’m i’m in recovery and i’m able to help others i’m grateful that i’m one of the ones that that found recovery and i choose and i have decided that i’m not going back i’m not going to become one of the ones that passes away no matter no matter what happens in this life and recovery i’m not doing it guys we’re going to take a 30 second break and we’ll be right back for more word what’s up recovered on purpose family i hope you’re enjoying this episode as much as i do when i’m making them guys if you’re getting any value from this if you’re seeing any golden nuggets that you want to share with your community make sure that you are you’re sharing it with your groups you’re sharing it with your personal page or your pages or to that one person that you’re thinking of right now and their messenger so that they get this message guys the brand new recovered on purpose website is up and it has a whole bunch of different merchandise and resources and the free calls with me so make sure you’re checking out recoveredonpurpose.com after the show and if you are a loved one of an addict if you have a kid that’s suffering an addiction i’m now doing free calls that we can strategize and find out how we can get them clean and keep them clean love you guys so much and enjoy the rest of the show amen amen get into this part because uh there’s something that there’s something really cool that i saw in my in my studies uh for this live that i’m gonna bring together right um tried for seven years to save that person we were in the program but never got it i’m so sorry jess so sorry my sister passed away in october from fentanyl overdose man every single one of us every single one of us is dealing with this and isn’t it beautiful that we’re able to come in and support each other by by sharing our pain pain shared is pain lessened and you know i think it’s beautiful that we have that in recovery and each and every one of you is called to stay recovered period each and every one of you in here each and every one of us in here right now never has to go back to using drugs ever period there was someone in here earlier first comment second comment 1997 25 years 25 years coming in here imagine 25 years from now
i’m still doing lives i’m still doing these podcasts we’ve got a whole lot of people in here remember this moment right now when we all decided in this live today that none of us are ever going to use again we’re all going to stay recovered and 25 years from now we look back on this amen thank you for all you do adam and helping save lives amen thank you melissa love you so much and guys when i say that like i love you so much each and every one of you um i i just do i just do i don’t need to go into it i just love you guys um this is second corinthians 10 1-11 now please listen for i need to address an issue i’m making this personal appeal to you by the gentleness and self-forgetfulness of christ i am the one who is humble and timid when face to face with you but bold and outspoken when a safe distance away now i plead with you that when i come don’t force me to take a hard line with you which i’m willing to do by daring to confront those who mistakenly believe that we are living by the standards of the world not by the spirit’s wisdom and power for although we live in the natural realm we don’t wage a military campage campaign employing human weapons using manipulation to achieve our aims instead our spiritual weapons are energized with divine power to effectively dismantle the defenses behind which people hide we can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes god and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of god we capture like prisoners of war every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the to the anointed one since we are armed with such dynamic weaponry we stand ready to punish any trace of rebellion as soon as you choose complete obedience boom boom that is that is talking about the spiritual realm it’s talking about the battle for the mind it’s talking about our weaponry and our weaponry is the word and faith in relationship with jesus period that’s what it is our and we’re going to talk about this a little bit so negative thoughts are are what the enemy uses there’s nothing there’s there’s nothing that can harm us that that we don’t bring onto ourselves right there’s there’s certain there’s people that can do horrible things and when i say that i mean like like humans can’t have just random things happen to them without humans creating something that that makes it happen right and in our lives personally as we’re going through this we have the power of the mind to to win the war for the mind we have the power and faith to win the war of the mind so the enemy will attack the mind tell us we’re worthless to tell us that’ll never work to tell us you really believe that that’s what god wants you to do uh do you really believe that you’re supposed to go talk to that person and help that person and and use those little whispers to to divert us from our plan to divert us from our path and in that moment we actually the weapon that we have is shutting it up with the truth period that’s what the war is the war is for the thoughts of our mind the war is for our focus the war is for our purpose so as we’re moving we have to be ready and prepared with a word to distract the enemy from us because he’s the one that hates it he hates being preached at my boyfriend of over 18 years sunset on july 25th 2013 was my sunrise giving him cpr every breath i blew into his mouth took every desire for an illegal and legal substances amen amen pam good to see you amber always good to see you all right now when i read that when i read that when i was studying for this it reminded me of something from ephesians 6. and a lot of us have heard this one and this is talking about the full armor of god
now my beloved ones i have saved these most important truths for last be supernaturally infused with strength through your life union with the lord jesus stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you put on god’s complete set of armor provided for us so that you will be protected as you fight against the evil strategies of the accuser your hand-to-hand combat is not with human beings but with the highest principalities and authorities operating in rebellion under the heavenly realms for they are a powerful class of demon gods and evil spirits that hold this dark world in bondage because of this you must wear all the armor that god provides so you’re protected as you confront the slanderer for you are destined for all things and will rise victorious so this is saying we are prepared because like i was saying the enemy is is they’re warring for our minds they’re our spirits the spiritual realm is real we don’t live spiritual spiritual principles in a spiritual program without realizing that the spiritual realm is real it’s real there’s actually a war going on for our minds and if we’re able to think about this if we’re able to have the perspective of of the spiritual world of a thought that comes in this negative is not of us it’s not us it’s not us thinking that we are worthless it’s not us thinking that we can’t do this that is not us it’s a thought from somewhere else from some other person from our past that the enemy is using to accuse us to slander us to get us off of our path put on truth as a belt to strengthen you to stand in triumph put on holiness as the protective armor that covers your heart stand on your feet alert then you’ll always be ready to share the blessings of peace in every battle take faith as your wraparound shield for it is able to extinguish the blazing arrows coming at you from the evil one embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies and take the mighty razor-sharp spirit sword of the spoken word of god pray passionately in the spirit as you constantly intercede with every form of prayer at all times pray the blessings of god upon all his believers and pray also that god’s revelation would be released through me every time i preach the wonderful mystery of the hope-filled gospel and now when we’re talking about the full armor of god all you need is god’s love to protect you from all evil if you believe he will have your back amen now this is going deeper this is going deeper into what the faith actually looks like okay what it actually looks like to have this power to have this anointing to have this relationship with god as a hedge of protection around us so the full armor of god having the first it’s the truth
first it’s the truth put on truth as a belt to strengthen you to stand in triumph so just know the truth know the truth about yourself know the truth about god know the truth about you know faith about what jesus did know the truth so that when someone comes out comes at you with a lie you can stand firm like nope that’s not true if if someone was telling you out there like i hate your blue hair you look horrible today that blue hair makes you horrible you know for me i’m going to be like all right have a good day because obviously i don’t have blue hair i know that that’s not true i don’t have any hair but if somebody is is saying something to me or i hear something coming at me that i know is not true because i’m solidified in my truth i’m solidified in the truth then that stuff can’t affect me that’s going to be our first part of our armor is knowing the truth
put on holiness as the protective armor that covers your heart so we’re wearing a breastplate of righteousness holiness righteousness that means walking without harming people that means walking without sin that we know we shouldn’t be living in doing things constantly throughout our days that we know we’re not supposed to be doing it it affects our heart it makes it so that we we can’t walk in the faith that we are truly called to walk and it makes us that we can’t really have that deep relationship with god if we’re walking in sin if we’re walking in something that we know we need to be doing something differently with and
stand on your feet alert then you’ll always be ready to share the blessings of peace and now this is talking about the the foot of the gospel the feet of the gospel right the shoes of the gospel being ready to sprint in and and speak the gospel you know in every battle take faith as your wraparound shield for it is able to extinguish the blazing arrows coming at you from the evil one so imagine there are there are blazing arrows being shot at us every day you’re worthless you’re you’re never gonna make it you’re you’re just an addict you can’t help that person there’s been shot at you over and over and over and over and if our faith is firm our faith is strong our faith in god our faith and our purpose what we’re supposed to be doing with our life is strong that faith those things can’t hit us we know where we’re going we know we’re supposed to be doing and as it continues to come at us we have this wraparound shield the shield of protection around us embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies so embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance salvation is what jesus did period if you know that if you know that he did it for you if you know that that grace gift was given to you without any any payment from you all it is is just knowing that it that it’s real believing that it’s real having the faith that it’s real that that gives us a helmet around our head so as those arrows are coming at us our faith will block them but anything that might get through just that faith shield can’t get through the head can’t get through the helmet because we know what jesus did we can always go back to that truth if if our faith is failing us at some point because you know for all of us all of us have a lack of faith at certain times in our life a lack of belief we have unbelief that’s coming into our lives right so if it gets through the faith shield what we can always go back to is the truth about what jesus did for us the the the gift the free gift that we were unable to earn there’s nothing we can do in this moment right now to earn what he did that makes it so that arrows can’t get through the head so we always know the power of salvation’s full deliverance like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies and take the mighty razor sharp spirit sword of the spoken word of god and when they were when he was writing this when paul was writing this uh this letter he was specifically talking about and he was using words as he was explaining a roman uh soldier so he was he was using words that you know um the breastplate of righteousness in in greek or hebrew that that was specifically about the roman soldier then he’s talking about the helmet and he’s talking about the shield that they all protect each other with and then they have two swords though a roman soldier actually had two swords they had the sword that they would attack with and they would go like this but it’s interesting because the word that that paul used for this sword was a sword that they had on their hip a super razor sharp sword that they had on their hip to pull arrows out of themselves and of their brethren so that means that if an arrow happens to get through and strike you the way to get it out if you’re if you’re constantly in this thought of of relapse or unworthiness or depression or something like that the way that we dig it out is literally with the bible it’s by getting back into the word it’s by getting back into this and and and focusing on our relationship with god getting this back so deep within us that those thoughts that have come up those arrows that have gotten through have to be removed by the sharp sword of truth that’s what it is what’s up catherine good to see you good to see you always good to see you miss you i listened to that entire that my entire recovery being bashed yeah well my sponsor just called sober since and asked me to join her at the early meeting this morning love you good to see you pam good to see you love that analogy have a great day yes no weapon shall be formed against me amen amen amen amen all right so that’s i remember when i first learned that about that about that word about that word for sword and it like completely revelation i revolutionized my faith so instead of attacking with the truth and attacking we’re not called to attack with the truth we’re called to preach the truth and heal with the truth heal with the truth so we’re not trying to go out and and getting arguments about it we’re not trying to go out and find people that don’t believe and convince them because we’re right and they’re wrong we’re not out waging a war like that with that kind of sword the truth is to help when these lies are getting through and to preach and let the ones who will hear hear and love them love everybody no matter what that’s what we’re called to do all right so we’re in psalm now psalm 51 we’re going to close with this
